Having to eat protein at meal times is proving really difficult for me – especially if it means eating bacon and sausages for breakfast every day so I decided to come up with high protein breakfast ideas without meat that will lay off all the saturated fat! The great news is my body is responding well to the protein – after all I have been on carbs for years  – but the Diet Solution Program really doesn’t encourage the type of food that the metabolic typing book does so I may lay off the book and stick to the Diet Solution….

Anyway, here are my five high protein breakfast ideas without meat:

Breakfast 1

2 free range eggs scrambled with one slice of whole toast
1 wholemeal tost with whole earth no sugar peanut butter
cup of nettle tea or herbal tea

The wholemeal loaf I buy is usually a small loaf so they are small slices and if you are being real strict and following the Diet Solution you will want to use rye bread or pumperknickel

Breakfast Two

30g porridge oats sprinked with omega 3 nuts & seeds
2 free range eggs on 1 slice of wholemeal toast

My favourite breakfast!

Breakfast Three

1 scoop of Vanilla whey protein mixed into milk
serve on cornflakes or branflakes

Because of the addition of whey protein (good quality) the protein in this breakfast increases. Of course you could just eat the breakfast with milk and make yourself a whey protein drink too.

Breakfast Four

Scrambled eggs and mackrel on wholemeal toast or smoked mackerel on rye bread or wholemeal toast with poached egg

Breakfast Five

Sardines on toast – 1 tin of sardines or two individual small sardines with 2 slices of toast and spinach

There you have it, my five high protein breakfast ideas I use to help me keep up my high protein diet without having to eat meat for breakfast every day.

They are my own made up breakfast ideas so I have no idea about calorie content or anything – take them at your own discretion or just stick to the ideas provided in the Diet Solution information. Remember, I am not a professional or a nutritionist, just a woman doing her best to figure out weight loss and all the differing information you can read on  what’s good and not so good.

It does sometimes worry me that most of those breakfast ideas involve bread as I really want to eat less wheat but until I can stand to eat something like rye bread I will have to use wholemeal – although I found a local bakers who make low GI bread when I can get into town.
